HOOPP's Commitment to Privacy
Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan ("HOOPP") respects the privacy and confidentiality of the personal information provided by or on behalf of individuals who apply for employment with HOOPP.
HOOPP's Recruitment Privacy Statement informs you of the practices we have in place for the collection, use and disclosure of the personal information we obtain during the job application and recruitment process, and how HOOPP protects such information.
Collection and Use of Personal Information
HOOPP collects the personal information that has been voluntarily provided by you, or that has been shared with HOOPP by a third party to whom you previously provided consent to share such information (e.g. recruitment agencies). HOOPP may also collect personal information about you from educational institutions, previous employers, references and public sources. Personal information includes information about an identifiable individual, including an applicant’s:

- educational history
We will collect and use your personal information only for the purposes of administering your account, processing your application and assessing your suitability in the recruitment, selection and hiring process. HOOPP may use your personal information to contact you at any time during your candidacy for employment to request other information, or, if you choose, to send you job-related information in the future.
Sharing of Personal Information
HOOPP will not disclose, trade, rent, sell or otherwise transfer your personal information, except as set out in this Privacy Statement. Your personal information will only be shared for the purposes set out above. Access to your personal information will be limited to only those individuals who have a need-to-know such information for recruitment purposes. We may also disclose your personal information where required by law.
To verify whether you have the required skills and experience HOOPP will undertake a variety of assessments and background checking processes. If you are a successful candidate and are selected for a position with HOOPP, background checks may include, but are not limited to, credit reference and criminal record checks, address verification, academic qualifications and employment references. HOOPP may engage third parties to complete all or part of the recruitment process (e.g. an external recruitment agency).
Third parties who provide services to HOOPP are required to comply with HOOPP's privacy, confidentiality and security standards to protect the privacy of your information. The third parties will only be permitted to use and process your information for the purposes as described in this Privacy Statement.
Safeguards & Retention
Safeguarding your privacy is a priority at HOOPP. HOOPP has implemented reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect against unauthorized access, use and disclosure of personal information in our custody and control.
As an applicant, your personal information will be retained by HOOPP as long as necessary for the fulfillment of the purposes set out in this Privacy Statement and in accordance with HOOPP’s records retention policy and any applicable laws. If you become an employee, we will retain your personal information for the ongoing administration of your employment record.
